Our
property is located 30 miles North of Reno, in
the
expansive
Palomino
Valley. The west is still alive and well in this
part of the country. We have wild horses, Mountain
lions, Bobcats and Coyotes. As neighbors, we have
ranchers, farmers, hotel owners, contractors, and
even a few city folks looking for a place to take a
breath, not to mention a large community that
embraces their second amendment rights. It takes a
certain kind of person
to live “out here.” As the
saying goes, for those who know no explanation is
necessary and for those who don’t no explanation is
possible. If you wonder at all come out any clear
night and look at the stars! Ranches here span from
forty acres to six hundred acres and the valley is
as diverse in terrain as its many residents. At the
foot of the Valley you will find flat land with
fields flourishing through the growing season with
alfalfa and grasses. As you travel up toward our
property the flat land gives way to mountain peaks,
with juniper, sage, goat weed, and huge rock
formations, granite, volcanic rock, and quartz, to
name a few. We also have what I have coined “Ferry
Dust” which is shiny glitter like pirate dust that
sparkles all over the property. It will cover your
boots in it when you hike the peaks and valleys. The
peaks that form a crest around our property are part
of the Pah Rah Mountain Range, high desert in all
its brilliance and we own 84 of these magnificent
acres. Land ownership, especially big land
ownership, in Nevada is a privilege with 80 percent
of the states land owned by the government. We
appreciate every ounce of dirt, grass, wild flowers
and stone this property has and have hiked its peaks
and washes to discover every time a new source of
inspiration in our land. This year finds us FINALLY
completing our dream home. If you don’t know the
struggles and perseverance this took you can read
about it on our page titled, “Life Is Not a Rough
Draft.”

visit?
Aside
from the obvious gaming and entertainment industry
that makes Reno famous we also have Pyramid Lake
only 15 miles away. Pyramid Lake is a salt water
lake so large it has its own tides, and boasts huge
Pyramid shaped rock formations that protrude up from
its blue belly.
Reno
also boasts hundreds of thousands of acres of open
space for recreation and pleasure. If you want to
make a mini vacation out of your visit bring your
horses and stage them here. We always welcome
visitors on site so please don’t hesitate to contact
us.Dave and Lynn Gunter
